Michaud

In the heart of the Loire Valley, Michaud is an estate located on the right bank of the Cher River at Noyers-sur-Cher (41). The 25-hectare estate is certified organic. The vineyard produces Touraine-Chenonceaux and Touraine AOC wines. Concentrated on the slopes of the Cher river, the soil is characterized by flinty clay of the "perruches" type. The vines face south, benefiting from maximum sunshine.

Our motto:
"The quest for quality through the expression of terroir".

The Michaud family have been winegrowers in Noyers-sur-Cher for 3 generations. Thierry and Dorothée Michaud ran the family estate for over 40 years. As they approached retirement, they turned to the Joseph Mellot family to perpetuate their vineyard. Here's their story:

The links between the Michaud and Joseph Mellot families go back to the early 80s. Thierry Michaud and Alexandre Mellot met on the benches of the Lycée Viticole de Beaune (known as La Viti), where they were studying for their BTS in Viticulture-Oenology. The 2 men struck up a deep and sincere friendship, each predestined to take over the family estate. Alexandre succeeded his father Joseph Mellot in 1984. Thierry took over the Michaud domaine in 1985. They share a common soil type , "les Silex", and an emblematic grape variety, "Sauvignon Blanc". In 2005, Alexandre Mellot passed away and his wife, Catherine Corbeau-Mellot, took over at the head of the family estate. In 2018, while visiting Château de Chenonceau on a wine tour with her husband's former classmates, Catherine Corbeau-Mellot became interested in the young Touraine-Chenonceaux appellation. The Joseph Mellot family began marketing the Michaud family's Touraine-Chenonceaux. In 2023, Thierry and Dorothée Michaud began to think about retirement. Wishing to entrust their estate to people they could trust, who were forward-looking and committed to the environment, the Michaud family naturally turned to the Joseph Mellot family. It makes sense to pass on a heritage and a preserved vineyard to a family with a history and convictions, and what's more, to the sons of their friend from Viti. In 2025, the Joseph Mellot family perpetuated the history of the Michaud vineyard by taking over the reins. It's now up to them to write the history of the estate.
